Challenge
Digital, account-based payments for government and humanitarian aid, when used appropriately, can have a significant impact on strengthening emergency response, boosting recovery, improving preparedness, and accelerating financial inclusion. However, several barriers exist to their use, including lack of partnership development between government and humanitarian agencies and digital financial services providers.
Solution
Maltseven has been working with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to promote digital payments in humanitarian response, with the ultimate goal of building greater resilience. In partnership with the Foundation and the Central Bank of Jordan, Maltseven designed and established the Mobile Money for Resilience (MM4R) program to accelerate financial inclusion in Jordan and improve the quality of life of Jordanians and Syrian refugees. Maltseven is also continuing to support the Foundation in stakeholder outreach to share globally-relevant insights from the MM4R model.
